Beni Ouarain rugs

Beni Ouarain rugs are often confused with Beni Mrirt rugs.
These two types of rugs are undoubtedly the most sought after by decorators around the world and their differences remain very subtle.
Unlike Beni Mrirt rugs, beni Ouarain rugs are more directed towards white or off-white backgrounds (the weft) on which geometric patterns are drawn.

The quality of wool and the way are very close.

BENI OUARAIN TRIBE

The Beni Ouarain, also named Beni Warayen are from the ancient Zenata tribe.
Initially composed of different tribes including:
Beni Abd el Hamid, Beni Jelidassen, Beni Bou Zart, Beni Zeggoute …

The Beni Ouarain tribe is characterized by a semi-nomadic lifestyle.
A Berber community that lives in the Middle Atlas region. During the summer, this tribe cultivates the land and makes provisions for the winter season.
Winter is more focused on the manufacture of carpets, recognizable by their patterns, a specific wool from herds named the Marmoucha and the quality of careful work.

The design of the Beni Ouarain rug

In the vast majority of cases, the weft of the carpet is made from dyed virgin wool, giving a very light tone ranging from white or very light beige.
Then comes the creation of geometric figures, which are realized by lines forming diamonds, triangles or simply lines in tones oscillating between light gray and black.

In terms of aesthetics, this type of carpet is highly sought after by decorators allowing to easily impose itself on all decors, from the most classic to the most modern.

Very effective protection against the cold

Thick and very dense, the Beni Ouarain carpets are placed on the frozen ground ensuring a very effective protection. They also serve as mattresses and blankets.

Studio Lid offers the most beautiful achievements of the Beni Ouarain Tribe.
Exceptional carpets respecting the tradition and know-how of an intact passion.
